🇪🇪 🇫🇮 Futura-Mobility in Estonia and Finland, end 2026

Futura-Mobility is organising a field trip to Estonia and Finland from 16 to 19 November 2026, on the topic of AI for responsible mobility.

📅 The trip will take place over three days, on 16, 17 and 18 November. On 19 November, participants will have the option to attend Slush in Helsinki, one of the biggest trade fairs dedicated to start-ups and technology.

Visiting Estonia and Finland will offer a rare opportunity to discover two of Europe’s most advanced ecosystems, where artificial intelligence (AI) is already transforming all forms of mobility – from maritime and rail to air and land transport. These two countries function as veritable open-air laboratories: Tallinn and Helsinki are experimenting with autonomous shuttles, delivery robots, smart ports, AI-optimised public transport systems, and unique cross-border projects. Their strength lies in close collaboration between universities, government and businesses, which are working together to develop innovative solutions and accelerate large-scale deployments. Exploring these territories will provide real understanding of how AI is reinventing planning, safety, energy efficiency, and multimodal transport integration.

🙋 If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible by mail:  contact@futuramobility.org

Please note  that in order to keep the group on a human scale, the number of places is limited. This will ensure discussions between companies are just as interesting as those with our hosts.

Join Keolis, Bouygues, SNCF, and the ESTACA mobility engineering school, who have already confirmed their participation!

💶 BUDGET:

Think tank members will participate in the trip at cost price, i.e., less than €2,000 per person, excluding round-trip flights.

Non-member companies are also welcome! Their financial contribution will be slightly higher but still very reasonable, amounting to a maximum of €4,000 per person, excluding round-trip flights.

This budget includes all on-site expenses: accommodation, meals, transport, etc.

To attend the SLUSH trade show — optional on Thursday, November 19 — add between €600 and €1,300 per person to the budget, depending on what can be negotiated.

🗓️ PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME:

Arrival in Tallinn on Sunday, November 15, in the evening at the latest. Return from Helsinki on Thursday, November 19, in the evening for those attending the SLUSH conference (earlier on November 19 for the others, if they wish).

Futura-Mobility is organising the trip on Monday, November 16, Tuesday, November 17, and Wednesday, November 18, up until dinner on November 18, 2026. Hotel rooms will be reserved from Sunday evening, November 15, to Thursday morning, November 19.

Specifically, over these three days, we aim to meet with the key players in AI and mobility:

🧠 FinEst Centre for Smart Cities (Tallinn University of Technology)

The heart of Tallinn–Helsinki cooperation.

Areas:

urban digital twins,
AI for urban mobility,
traffic optimization,
cross-border smart mobility projects.

🧠 VTT – Technical Research Centre of Finland (Helsinki/Espoo)

Finland’s most influential technology research centre.

Key areas:

AI for autonomous mobility,
rail and logistics optimisation,
transport cybersecurity,
smart maritime systems.

An essential stop for understanding the Finnish vision of smart mobility.

🚀 ITS Estonia & the FinEst ecosystem

Estonia and Finland jointly presented a shared pavilion at CES 2026, bringing together 30 pioneering companies in autonomous and sustainable mobility.

Key players to meet:

autonomous vehicle startups,
connected mobility solutions,
smart logistics technologies.

🤖 Startups and leading companies (non-exhaustive list!)

In Estonia

Starship Technologies: autonomous delivery robots (global pioneers).
Auve Tech: autonomous electric shuttles, in use at several sites, including airports.
Bolt: multimodal mobility (scooters, taxis, ride-hailing, delivery).
Ridango: smart ticketing systems and analytics for public transport….

In Finland:

Wärtsilä: maritime AI, energy optimization, autonomous navigation.
KONE: smart management of vertical mobility flows (elevators, hubs).
Finnair: AI for aviation optimization and maintenance.

🏙️ Tallinn Transport Department

Meet municipal teams working on:

AI for public transport management,
smart ticketing systems,
mobility data integration,
cross-border projects between Tallinn and Helsinki.

🏙️ Forum Virium Helsinki (Smart City Lab)

The City of Helsinki’s innovation agency.

They are leading:

AI projects for traffic management,
drone experiments to analyse mobility flows (cars, trams, bicycles, pedestrians),
autonomous shuttle tests,
European projects such as AI4Cities.

An ideal place to meet municipal teams.

🚗 Future Mobility Finland (Finnish national platform)

A national initiative dedicated to transport innovation supporting the use of AI in:

public transport,
logistics,
